Arkansas' heritage of music, arts and crafts draws
visitors from around the nation and many foreign countries. In recent years the area has
also become known world wide for it's tremendous fishery. At any given day you may meet
people from Canada, Norway, Germany, France....etc. and of course from all over the
US.
Mountain Home ( Baxter County Seat ) and the surrounding area offer a variety of Hotels, Resorts,
Lodges and Bed
and Breakfasts and several car rental agencies plus a regional
airport are available. The next major airports are in Little Rock - Arkansas or
Springfield - Missouri. Some of the Resorts have their own airstrips and / or offer
airport shuttles. Services typically range from full luxury accommodations to single room
lodging, some of which may include a kitchenette to facilitate your own cooking. Off the
water you may opt to visit local restaurants for your breakfast and dinner
needs or stock
your kitchenette to your desire.
Specialty items like
single malt whiskey, fine wines and gourmet foods can be purchased in Mountain Home. Please keep in
mind that many accommodations may also require pre-booking prior to the spring and summer
months. Late fall and winter months are usually less crowded and offer a much better
opportunity for a big fish. Power generation governs wading access or the need for a boat. |
